Luciana was raised in Rome through her father and mother - Luciana's father was Manlio Paoluzzi an Italian army officer and her maternal grandmother was Maria Rota Paoluzzi who was once one of Benito Mussolini's lover's wives. There are no known siblings. Luciana attended the local high school, and after graduating in 1955 was a student at the Naval Engineering department of the Scientific Academy of Milan. She was the sole woman in the class. She began her modeling career after two years. However, this was changed after she got her first acting role accidentally when she visited her father's Rome acquaintance. The role was a two-line part in Three Coins in the Fountain. Brett Halsey, an actor herself, was her first wife. Following the wedding, in 1960 they recorded a film named Return to the Peyton Palace. Luciana got custody when they split just a couple of years after Charles became a baby. Between 1962 and 1970, Luciana dated Tony Athony an actor and producer who was greatly influenced by her performance in the movie Green Slime and based on the script he wrote as well as this hybrid Spaghetti Western for which he became somewhat popular.
